Professional Competencies

Organizational Accountability

§ Overall responsibility for managing the office of the Resident Representative, providing the necessary services to support the work of the Resident Representative, and insuring an environment of professionalism and teamwork among Country Office (CO) team of support staff.

§ Communicated and ensured that appropriate protocol and correspondence guidelines are adhered by CO team. Helped establish and prioritize communications with donors, UN agencies and other counterparts.

§ Manage the logistics, finance and administrative services for the head of office.

HR / Operation -Functional

§ Demonstrated capability in applying HR disciplines through advising clients and implementing best practices by referring to HR personnel manual, ALD and SC manuals staff rules 100, 200 and 300 and UNDP Administrative circulars.

§ Developed plans to prioritize tasks according to their urgency to achieve the end result and the satisfaction of the client at the same time especially at the renewal and extension of staff contracts so that they would be able to receive their entitlements on time.

Results Orientation

§ Managed (in cooperation with the Deputy resident representative for Operations ) the organization of the Country Office annual retreat (2006), including administration, budget, logistics, documentation, etc this contributed greatly to its success.

§ Served as a member of the Local Appointment and Promotion Panel 2005-2007.

§ Elected as a Polling Officer of the staff Association, and member of the Social Committee.

§ Produced, on various occasions qualitative and quantitive results when managing contracts for UNDP clients (i.e. more than 600 SC/ALD/FT contracts with their administrative formalities for UN-HABITAT).

§ UN-HABITAT required interpretation of and elaboration on types of contracts at the end of the four years of ALD contracts of their staff. Thus I took the initiative to organize and conduct a workshop to this effect. The positive results of the workshop were appreciated and recognized in a memorandum from UN-HABITAT Programme Director. (2002-2003)

§ Welcomed new ideas and had been able to adapt to various changes within the working environment.

§ As a results-oriented staff, I had been one of few who were selected to continue rendering services upon the temporary relocation of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) in Amman (1992).

§ As the focal point of UN-HABITAT HR issues, was assigned to manage the separation process of staff due to the completion of the Oil for Food Programme (SCR 986), and remain working on the handover of the Programme and during liquidation period at UNDP/ENRP Office Amman.

§ Organize regular and ad-hoc meetings, summarizing actions for follow up actions by management and/or CO teams.

§ Screening all incoming communications, establish priorities and advise RR; wherever possible, take initiative to handle routine matters in close consultation with the RR.

11 /10/ 2003-to 31/03/2004: Operation/Human Resources Associate, Focal Point on HR issues regarding UN-HABIAT(Liquidation period), and Focal Point for Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA Team)*.

§ Manage separation processes of UNDP, UNDESA and UN-HABITAT (600 staff on different kinds of contracts on Food for Oil Programme)
